January Style Pick me Ups!

Hello January…

Urgh this week has been a long one! Hearing my alarm go off, before my kids were awake! I

don’t think that has ever happened!

If like me you’re feeling a bit rubbish this January, with no motivation to think about anything, let alone what to wear, here’s some ideas that I will be looking to this month to get me out of my baggy jumpers and leggings, and feeling a little bit more like me again.

Start with some colour

There’s nothing better than adding some colour to your outfit to help lift your mood. I have tonnes of bright chunky knits, but if you’re not feeling so bold why not add a coloured tee or vest under your cardie. Try a vibrant blue, green or pink to bridge the gap between now and spring

Ditch the leggings... not forever!

I know these are the ultimate comfort and the thought of getting your jeans on after all the

Christmas treats is daunting, but it works wonders to have a change! Try your leather look trousers too!

Blazer blazer blazer….

If it’s one thing I bang on about its blazers, but they really are the most versatile thing to keep all year around. Whether you’re back in the office with no idea what to wear, or nipping out, a blazer smartens and finishes any outfit. I’ve loved wearing an oversized blazer over a knitted sweater this winter, with a snuggly scarf to top!

Ditch the boots

We’ve been hiding our trotters away in chunky winter boots and knee highs, so why not dig out your pumps and loafers or Converse to make your look feel different. They still work well with a heavy coat and knitwear, but will put a spring in your step!

Dresses

I’ve definitely forgotten how to wear a casual dress, after seeing so many gorgeous sparkly options for Christmas I forget about wearing a day dress. There are tonnes of knit dresses still around, but also to make use of your midi and maxi dresses in the wardrobe, layer them with a jumper or sweatshirt. This immediately dresses the outfit down, and if the dress has a collar even better to play around with!
